What Is Capsular Contracture?

Capsular contracture is a complication that can happen anytime after breast augmentation surgery. Capsular contracture occurs when your body responds negatively to a breast implant and forms unhealthy capsule around the implant. Consequently, this will often cause the breast to feel hard and painful and can also change the size and shape of the breast. It is mostly commonly associated with breast implants, but can also occur when any foreign device is implanted in the body.

Are There Any Reasons I Can’t Get An Ultrasound Lymphatic Massage?

Ultrasound massage utilizes low-power sound waves and therefore are not a risk for radiation like X-Rays and other imaging technologies. However, there are some health conditions and injuries that should not be or cannot be treated with an ultrasound. If you cannot have an ultrasound for any reason, it’s likely you already know. If you are unsure, please review the risks and benefits with your doctor. 

The use of an ultrasound is perfectly safe and there are no major risks associated with ultrasounds. As a result, it is arguably one of the safest medical devices on the market. Ultrasound has a long history of use in therapeutic instances, such as to prevent and treat capsular contracture.

Some reasons an ultrasound lymphatic massage may not be right for you: 

• Have a bone problem or break (ultrasounds cannot penetrate bone and therefore will not help ease symptoms from those injuries)
• Have a pacemaker

• Have an implanted device
• Have cancer

WHAT CAN I EXPECT DURING MY ULTRASOUND ASSISTED LYMPHATIC MASSAGE IN KIRKLAND?

When you come in for your ultrasound assisted therapy appointment, you can expect for the appointment to last about 30 minutes. Firstly, one of our Master Estheticians will have you change into a treatment robe. Secondly, they will then set the ultrasound machine to the right setting for your custom treatment. 

During treatment, your esthetician will apply ultrasound gel to the treatment area. Then, they will take the ultrasound’s circular wand and deliver guided ultrasound waves in conjunction with lymphatic massage techniques. The massage takes around 15-20 minutes.
