SCULPTRA IN SEATTLE, BELLEVUE, AND KIRKLAND
As we age, our faces begin to hollow and lose their natural volume due to shifting supporting tissues and a decrease in collagen production. Patients often choose dermal fillers to restore volume and fill in wrinkles, providing a more-youthful look to the face. Dermal fillers are temporary solution comprised of different ingredients, depending on the manufacturer. As a temporary treatment, filler treatments need refreshing from time to time. Sculptra is another filler option, but instead of utilizing hyaluronic acid as its main ingredient (as in other fillers), it uses poly-L-lactic acid to provide subtle, longer lasting results. The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery offers Sculptra to the Seattle, Bellevue, and Kirkland areas.
HOW DOES SCULPTRA WORK?
The poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) used in Sculptra is a synthetic form of the same lactic acid that our muscles produce during and after exercise. PLLA is also what is used in biodegradable sutures. When injected, this filler helps increase your natural collagen production. This allows you to slowly and naturally fill in your deep-set wrinkles and lines using your body’s normal healing processes.
Like other dermal fillers, Sculptra is a temporary solution to facial aging, though it lasts longer because your body creates new collagen to fill in facial hollows. This collagen does not disappear when you need another Sculptra treatment, it simply enhances your future results. While you may require subsequent treatments, Sculptra in Bellevue will continue to provide improving your results over time.
The Many Uses Of Scuptra:
Sculptra’s main uses target the face, especially areas that typically experience wrinkles and fine lines. However, Kirkland Sculptra is sometimes used in non-surgical Brazilian butt lift procedures to provide lift and volume to the behind. Among the most common uses include treatment of:
- Hollowing temples
- Extremely prominent cheekbones
- Nasolabial folds
- Hollowing cheeks
- Marionette lines
- Hollowing chin
- Undefined jawline
- Facial wrinkles
Who Are The Providers?
At The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, we offer Sculptra injections with board-certified cosmetic surgeon, Dr. Craig Jonov and our qualified nurse injectors. Dr. Jonov has years of experience with injectable fillers and is often called upon to educate other injectors.
Our nurse injectors are trained in our office and honed their skills to minimize swelling and pain, during and after the procedure. They often can see you for your Bellevue Sculptra sooner than Dr. Jonov can, allowing you to obtain quicker results.
Is Sculptra Safe?
Sculptra was first FDA approved for use in HIV patients experiencing hollowing of the face. Five years later in 2009, it was approved for general use. Since then, Sculptra in Bellevue has proven safe for filling in the face. It is, however, not suitable as lip or under eye filler. For these areas, you can combine a traditional hyaluronic acid filler like Juvederm or Restylane to plump these areas.
As with any medical procedure, Sculptra does come with some risks. Most risks are minor, such as bruising or pain at the injection sites, however, these should resolve on their own and usually do not cause any long lasting effects. In certain individuals with a compromised immune system or other medical conditions, filler injections can negatively affect their health or vice-versa. In an ideal candidate, major risks are rare when a qualified provider performs your Sculptra injections.
THE SCULPTRA INJECTION TECHNIQUE
For your first Bellevue Sculptra treatment, your provider will inject Sculptra at various points decided during your consultation. Before injecting, they may apply a topical anesthetic to keep you comfortable during the injections. The Sculptra formula itself contains lidocaine which helps numb the area as the filler as it is injected.
Throughout treatment, your provider will target various areas, injecting small amounts of Sculptra in each area. Targeting these areas at the same time keeps your results even and will fill out the look of your entire face. The entire procedure should not take longer than 20-30 minutes, though this will depend on the number of treatment areas and vials administered. Your first appointment will be longer as it often includes the consultation.
Usually, one Sculptra treatment happens over the course of a few weeks or months to allow for your collagen to build itself between injections. After your final session, results can last up to 2 years.
AFTER SCULPTRA TREATMENTS
Kirkland Sculptra does not require extensive downtime like surgery. Normally, patients can return to their daily activities immediately. You should avoid exercise or overly strenuous activities for one to two days after treatment. Otherwise, Sculptra should not significantly impact your life.
Sculptra can cause some mild side effects such as swelling, bruising, pain, or irritation, most of these focused at or around the injection sites. Usually, these Sculptra side effects should resolve on their own within a week or so.
Prescription pain medications are not usually needed and your provider will alert you to any individualized recovery instructions for you. Side effects more than those mentioned earlier are rare and when you choose to have your injections by a professional, this reduces these risks.

How Long Until I See Results?
Because Sculptra in Kirkland takes a few months to be absorbed in your system, your results will fill in gradually. You will not come into our office and walk out with dramatic results immediately. It takes time for your collagen to build and fill in these lines. You should begin to see results an average of 2-3 weeks after injection, and, your results will continue to improve over time as your body increases collagen production.
Everybody will respond differently to Kirkland Sculptra. Exactly when you see visible results will depend on how quickly your body produces collagen in response to the injections. Leading a healthy lifestyle with regular exercise and a healthy diet will help you see your best self.
WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR SCULPTRA?
Since collagen production begins to slow after the age of 25, the majority of Sculptra Sculptra patients are middle-aged. However, it is possible to be a Sculptra candidate at almost any age.
You should be in good general health and have no major medical illness that could interfere with the procedure or results. This can include auto-immune diseases, cancer, blood or bleeding disorders, among others. Giving your provider a full medical history and informing of them all the medications you take will allow them to decide if Sculptra injections are right for you.
Finally, fully understanding what to expect from your Sculptra injections and results is important. Your provider will show you before and after photos and explain what you can expect after you Bellevue Sculptra treatments. This can help you understand the possibilities of Sculptra and how it may help you.
