Does RF Microneedling Help Jowls?

By | RF Microneedling, Skin
Radiofrequency technology has been used in surgery for decades. However, more recently, it has become a non-surgical skin tightening tool. Radiofrequency treatments in isolation can help tighten the beginning stages of lax skin that occur with aging. Radiofrequency microneedling combines powerful RF energy with one of the best medical grade skincare treatments to offer great results. Does RF microneedling help jowls? It depends. If the jowls have sagged significantly and skin removal is necessary, then RF microneedling will likely not provide the desired results. A facelift or neck lift is usually recommended. However, following this surgery, RF microneedling can help promote skin tightening and reduce scarring. If the jowls are just beginning to lose elasticity, then RF microneedling may reduce the appearance of this and slow the overall progression of the sagging. This is because it induces a collagen response on both the surface and structural portions of the skin. This helps improve elasticity and treats the appearance of wrinkles. While it cannot completely eliminate or prevent aging, it can prolong the progress and keep you looking younger for longer. Are You Supposed To Brush Lash Extensions?

By | Lash Extensions
Lash extensions are small faux eyelashes adhered to the natural lashes to create extra length and volume. Generally, after placement, our master estheticians recommend not touching the lashes and not applying mascara. However, contradictory to this advice, many lash experts recommend brushing the extensions to keep them from tangling and maintain them for longer. So, are you supposed to brush lash extensions?Yes, gently brushing through your lashes with a dry, clean mascara brush removes debris that could potentially break down the adhesive. This can keep your lashes on longer as well as make sure they are always looking their best. Additionally, when sleeping, the extensions can become tangled which can put stress on them. Gently brushing alleviates this. While brushing is encouraged, do so as gently as possible and only once (or twice in some situations) a day. Overbrushing could prematurely damage or pull out the lashes, which can even put your natural lashes in peril. While unlikely, it is best to simply make it a quick part of your routine to gently brush your lashes once a day.To learn more, call us at 425-775-3561. “Can I Use Retinol After RF Microneedling?” & Other Microneedling Aftercare Questions Answered

By | RF Microneedling
Many non-surgical skincare treatments and procedures do not have a recovery, but do require some aftercare. Our master estheticians answer some of the most common questions after undergoing RF microneedling in Bellevue at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery.

#1: Can I Use Retinol After RF Microneedling?

Not immediately after, no. Your master esthetician will likely recommend not doing any skincare the first night, beyond some moisturization. Since retinol is a resurfacing agent, you will need to wait at least a few weeks before continuing its use. Depending on the product and frequency of use, your master esthetician may recommend waiting between two and six weeks before resuming retinol use.

#2: Will I Peel?

Potentially, though it is less likely to than a chemical peel. Any peeling that occurs is usually mild and resolves quickly. Many will not experience any peeling after RF microneedling.

#3: What Is Normal After RF Microneedling?

After RF microneedling, it is normal to experience some redness, irritation, and itchiness for a few days. However, this should improve after the first one to two days and it should not be so uncomfortable that hinders everyday life. Occasionally, peeling or dryness may occur. Unless severe, this is also no cause for concern. To learn more and to schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. You can also reach out online via Price Simulator, chat, and contact form.

Is Dermaplaning Good For Aging Skin?

By | Nonsurgical, Skin
Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a surgical scalpel to remove dead skin and peach fuzz from the surface of the skin. It does not involve any ablation and is safe for all skin types and tones. Since it mainly is an exfoliation treatment, many patients ask, “Is dermaplaning good for aging skin?”While dermaplaning on its own is not an anti-aging treatment, it can complement other anti-aging procedures. For example, because dermaplaning removes dead skin and hair that may otherwise prevent skincare products and procedures from penetrating deeper into the skin. When a patient undergoes dermaplaning before another procedure, this can increase the efficacy. This is especially true of medical grade facials and chemical peels.Additionally, dermaplaning is great for providing a temporary skin glow. Therefore, if you need a quick glow for an event, dermaplaning is a great finishing touch that can give you a healthy looking glow and make your make-up go on easier. In short, yes, dermaplaning is good for aging skin, though it is not an anti-aging treatment on its own. Your master esthetician can determine if dermaplaning is a good addition to your normal routine. To schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561. Does The Zombie Carbon Laser Peel Cause Peeling?

By | Chemical Peel, Skin
The zombie carbon laser peel is The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery’s take on a traditional carbon laser peel. Combining soothing carbon lotion with laser technology, the treatment is fairly comfortable and rejuvenates the skin without creating major damage. Since it is referred to as a “peel”, many first time patients ask, “Does the zombie carbon laser peel cause peeling?” Generally, the answer is no. Unlike a traditional chemical peel that contains various ingredients designed to resurface the skin such as lactic acid, carbon lotion is not formulated to do this. It provides a dark colored surface for the laser to target which controls the amount of laser energy that reaches the skin. This leads to a treatment that both rejuvenates and soothes the skin. With that said, some patients can experience minor peeling after the procedure. While not especially common, it is usually not something to be concerned about. If patients experience peeling, they can moisturize and, after a few days, lightly exfoliate. You can also always contact your master esthetician to find out the best aftercare solution for your skin. To schedule a free consultation with a master esthetician, call us at 425-775-3561. Is RF Microneedling Painful?

By | Microneedling, Nonsurgical, Skin
Radiofrequency microneedling–more commonly known as RF microneedling–is a form of microneedling that reaches deeper below the skin’s surface. This means that the controlled damage is more than on the surface of the skin. It is ideal for improving the appearance of acne scars, sun damage, and aging. When a master esthetician describes the procedure to patients, a frequently asked question often follows, “Is RF microneedling painful?”In technicality, the procedure is more painful than traditional microneedling. However, in practice, patients barely feel the procedure because topical numbing cream is applied beforehand. This keeps the procedure nearly painless and most patients remain perfectly comfortable throughout the treatment.Patients may feel the pressure of the device against their skin and some may experience some minor discomfort if they have sensitive skin, or towards the end of the procedure. To account for this, your master esthetician will adjust the settings of the microneedling device for each area. This prevents the microneedles from penetrating too deeply or causing too much damage. It also limits pain.Overall, RF microneedling is not a painful procedure. Your master esthetician will use topical numbing creams and various techniques to keep the treatment as painless as possible. Is Dermaplaning Just Shaving?

By | Skin
Dermaplaning involves removing surface hair from the face using a surgical blade. The treatment can look similar to shaving. Therefore, patients often wonder, “Is dermaplaning just shaving?” This is a fair question considering dermaplaning does not have the hype surrounding it that procedures like microneedling and the VI Peel. Let our master estheticians tell you why dermaplaning is so much more than shaving.  First off, as previously mentioned, dermaplaning uses a surgical blade. This obviously sharper and more precise than the razors used at home. This allows your master esthetician to remove more than just hair. While hair removal is one benefit of dermaplaning, the main objective is to remove dead skin that is bogging down and clogging your healthy skin.  Secondly, dermaplaning is known for what is called the “dermaplane glow”. Soon after treatment, patients often experience a noticeable glow. This is because the skin is clear of debris and products such as moisturizers and cleansers can now penetrate deeper into the skin.  Finally, dermaplaning requires a certified professional like a master esthetician to perform. Since it uses a surgical blade, performing dermaplaning yourself or having it done by an untrained professional risks injury. Therefore, dermaplaning is much more than just shaving.  To schedule a free skincare consultation with a master esthetician, call us at 425-775-3561. 3 Non-Invasive Summer Skincare Options

By | Skin
With the promise of sun this summer, procedures like chemical peels and laser resurfacing cannot be performed with the same frequency or intensity. These treatments leave the skin sensitive to sun and sun damage. Therefore, it is best not to have them done during the summer months, or to only treat areas consistently and completely covered with clothing. Luckily, our master estheticians perform other treatments that will not make your skin sun sensitive while still keeping a healthy glow throughout summer. Here are 3 non-invasive summer skincare options from The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery.

#1: Oxygen Facial

An oxygen facial promotes circulation and cell turnover to keep skin looking refreshed. It also moisturizes and infuses oxygen into the surface of the skin to keep it well nourished. An oxygen facial can benefit nearly every skincare routine and is safe for all skin types and tones.

#2: Rain Facial

A customized facial in Bellevue, the rain facial features nine different treatment heads that are combined individually to treat your specific skin needs. Like the oxygen facial, the rain facial is gentle, using a stream of water to clean and nourish the skin for a lasting glow.

#3: Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning removes dead skin and peach fuzz from the surface of the skin. This allows for daily skincare to penetrate deeper into the skin and results in a “dermaplane” glow. It can result in some mild irritation, but requires no downtime or time out of the sun.  To schedule a summertime appointment with one of our master estheticians, call us at 425-775-3561. How Painful Is Laser Tattoo Removal?

By | Laser Tattoo Removal, Nonsurgical, Skin
Getting a tattoo can be a painful endeavor. Those who choose to remove their tattoos may wonder if it comes with pain as well. Overall, the best way to remove a tattoo is using a laser which can break down the pigment of the tattoo and fade it into your skin. One of the most common questions our master estheticians hear during laser tattoo removal consultations is, “How painful is laser tattoo removal?” The amount of pain that a patient experiences during laser tattoo removal will vary from patient to patient. Generally, patients do feel some pain or discomfort during the procedure. For many, this pain compares to getting the tattoo. Others may experience less pain depending on the age, location, and size of the tattoo.  Additionally, a laser tattoo removal session takes less time than most tattoo appointments. Therefore, you will only have to bear the pain or discomfort for a short period of time, unlike when getting the tattoo. Your master esthetician can provide better insight into how painful laser tattoo removal may be for you after gauging the specifics of your tattoo.  To schedule a consultation with a master esthetician at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, call us at 425-775-3561. VI Peel Bellevue: How Long Do You Peel With VI Peel?

By | VI Peel, Chemical Peel, Skin
The VI Peel is a high-end chemical peel designed to deliver medium depth results with only mild to moderate peeling. Peeling after a chemical peel largely depends on your skin type, if you’ve had peels before, and various other factors. Despite this, it is natural for patients to wonder, “How long do you peel with a VI Peel?” On average, patients will begin peeling around Day Three following their VI Peel in Bellevue. They then usually peel through Day Five. This means that if you have a VI peel Wednesday, you can expect to peel through the weekend. While peeling will vary between patients, the VI Peel is known for minimal peeling post-procedure and providing full results in a week.  The VI Peel also comes with a curated kit of aftercare. This aftercare was specifically formulated to work with the VI Peel. It soothes the skin, promotes minimal skin peeling, and protects the skin as it heals after the peel. This makes the VI Peel unique and sets it apart from other chemical peels.  After a consultation with a master esthetician at The Gallery of Cosmetic Surgery, they can provide a more personalized timeline for your VI Peel aftercare. In general, the VI Peel does not cause patients to peel for more than a few days. To schedule a consultation, call us at 425-775-3561.
